Delivering value through well-planned, efficiently executed deals.

Our commercial mortgage-backed securities (CMBS) team works in close liaison with loan originators, master servicers, and special servicers to nurse, push, and execute deals across the nation. We’ve closed a total of 3,500 CMBS loans spanning every state worth approximately $50 billion in volume, including more than 800 loans totaling nearly $13 billion since 2010. Our keen understanding of the legal issues endemic to complex financing enables us to provide value in every transaction, large or small, routine or highly specialized.

Several of our CMBS attorneys are recognized by Best Lawyers® in America, Chambers USA® Client’s Guide, Super Lawyers ® and Martindale-Hubbell. Areas of Focus

Master Servicing

Our team routinely represents master servicers in connection with a variety of servicing-related matters, including loan modifications, transfers and assumptions, lease reviews, tenant in common syndications, cash management disputes and partial releases.

Special Servicing

We represent special servicers in loan workouts and the enforcement of loan documents through the foreclosure process, or by taking the title through a deed in lieu of foreclosure. Following the acquisition of the property, we regularly assist in property tax appeals, general litigation, contract disputes, and the disposition of the property.

Mezzanine Loans & Preferred Equity

Our CMBS team routinely assists clients in connection with mezzanine loan and preferred equity transactions for commercial real estate projects. This work is predominately on the lender side, but includes a significant amount of regional work for a handful of REIT clients as well as multiple regional developers.
