Kenneth J. Witzel, former principal at the oil and gas boutique law firm Barnes Dulac Watkins, has joined Frost Brown Todd (FBT) as a member in the firm’s Pittsburgh office. Focusing his practice in oil, gas and natural resources law, Witzel represents businesses, including publicly traded corporations, in all phases of litigation, both in jury and non-jury trials and appeals.
“We’re very fortunate to add a seasoned trial attorney of Ken’s caliber to our team,” says FBT Pittsburgh Member-in-Charge Kevin Colosimo. “Ken’s skills and experience complement our energy litigation team quite well.”
Witzel has handled numerous cases on the forefront of Pennsylvania and West Virginia oil and gas law. He has represented oil and gas clients in disputes involving farmout agreements, interconnection agreements, leases, ownership rights, seismic testing, pipeline rights of way, and various other matters. He counsels clients on matters pertaining to property interests and negotiates leases, easements and other agreements associated with oil and natural gas operations. In addition to his work in the energy industry, Witzel has provided counseling and litigation assistance to one of the nation’s largest air medical transportation services. He also represents companies across industries in litigation related to commercial contracts, unfair competition, commercial real estate, employment and construction.
Witzel earned his J.D. at Pennsylvania State University Dickinson School of Law in 1998. He has practiced law in Pittsburgh since 1999, following a clerkship at the Superior Court of Pennsylvania. He is licensed in both Pennsylvania and West Virginia.
