AJ has over 30 years of legal experience in the entertainment industry. During this time, AJ has worked as in-house counsel for two major record labels and worked at two of the top entertainment law practices in the United States. He has worked on thousands of transactional matters in the entertainment industry including serving as counsel to numerous award-winning and internationally recognized artists, producers, songwriters, record company executives, record labels, fashion models and a wide variety of entertainment companies. He is a master at securing agreements for music licensing rights and/or celebrity talent for advertising/brand clients, an expert at drafting and negotiating a wide variety of music industry contracts and routinely counsels clients on complex copyright, name, image and likeness, SAG-AFTRA and other content clearance issues.
His national practice is primarily focused on transactional, licensing strategies and litigation matters in the entertainment, media, and advertising industries. AJ represents a diverse group of clients, including all three major record labels, numerous brands and advertisers, and a wide variety of entertainment clients.
Prior to joining Frost Brown Todd, among other positions, AJ was previously the vice-president of legal affairs and anti-piracy at EMI Records, the director of business affairs at Sony Music, worked at two of the entertainment industry’s top law practices at Grubman Shire Meiselas & Sacks, and Greenberg Traurig and the John Mellencamp organization. Prior to working as an attorney in the entertainment industry, AJ worked in the live music industry working for multiple artists including, Patty Smyth and Scandal, Marshall Crenshaw, John Mellencamp, and The Dream Syndicate including concert tours with Golden Earring, The Kinks, Hall & Oates and REM.
