Avery focuses her practice in the Business Litigation practice group and has experience in cases involving breach of contract, business torts, and other general commercial litigation matters. In addition to her business litigation experience, Avery also has experience in government contracts, white collar criminal defense, trademark and copyright infringement, complaints filed under the EEOC, and patent infringement.
Prior to joining FBT, Avery was a business transactions associate with Steven S. Toeppich & Associates in Houston, Texas. In her transactional practice, Avery represented energy sector clients in matters relating to oil and gas exploration, production, distribution and marketing. She has experience in providing drilling, division order and acquisition title opinions to exploration and production companies and other clients in the oil and gas industry, reviewing and analyzing title documents, and drafting contracts and other legal agreements.
During her time at South Texas College of Law Houston, Avery competed on the Moot Court Team and was awarded the Best Brief Award in the Honorable Sharon S. McCally Moot Court Tournament and was a member of the Harry Reed Institute for Oil & Gas Energy Journal. While in law school, Avery interned for the Harris County Attorney and for Hon. Paul D. Stickney of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas.
