Mr. Whitney handles a wide range of matters for clients facing critical, cutting-edge challenges and opportunities. Mr. Whitney tackles each of these matters by familiarizing himself with the facts and context, marshaling the evidence, sharpening the arguments, and delivering a cogent, well-reasoned, and persuasive presentation. He deploys these methods in criminal and complex civil matters in both state and federal courts in New Jersey and New York.
Prior to joining Gibbons, Mr. Whitney served as a law clerk for the Honorable James B. Clark, III, Magistrate Judge for the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey. In this role, he was responsible for drafting opinions and orders, reviewing motions, conducting legal research, and providing recommendations to the court. Outside the firm, Mr. Whitney is an active participant in his civic community. He serves as a member of the Board of Directors for the Garden State Bar Association and a mentor for New Jersey Law and Education Empowerment Project (NJ LEEP) and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Essex, Hudson, and Union Counties. In addition, he maintains an active pro bono practice that includes representing individuals in expungement matters in both Essex and Morris Counties.
