The second LogisticsConnect conference is slated for the morning of Tuesday, April 25, at the Nationwide Hotel and Conference Center in Lewis Center. The focus of the 2017 conference is the challenges facing the logistics workforce and innovative ideas for building and maintaining teams of dedicated employees.

“We focus on having a strong and inclusive culture. We have found that this culture of caring has been paramount in helping our company grow because each of our individuals, regardless of position, is a critical part of how we talk with, ship to and treat the most important reason we are successful – our clients,” says Sally Hughes, Founder and CEO of Caster Connection, Inc., and a frequent presenter on the topics of entrepreneurialism and women in business. Hughes’ keynote will focus on making the most of a multigenerational and diverse staff. Caster Connection, an industrial product manufacturer and distributor, serves thousands of companies throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico and Europe, and has been recognized for its innovative solutions in moving heavy equipment.

Darla Carlson, Vice President – Human Resources with the Oneida Company, Gary Glaser, Division Vice President at ProLogistics and Stephen Francis, Chief Diversity Officer with the City of Columbus, will participate in a panel discussion focusing on diversity, labor and culture. The panel, moderated by Frost Brown Todd (FBT) Labor and Employment attorney Anne McNab, will dive deeper into topics such as making the workplace safe for LGBTQ employees, working with a multi-generational workforce and best practices for retaining transient employees. A separate session, moderated by McNab and FBT attorney Catherine Burgett will center on the legal issues facing employers, including recent actions by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the Department of Labor.

“The demographics of the workforce are changing and we see new labor trends emerging in the industry,” says McNab. “It’s imperative that employers stay abreast of legal developments while implementing strategies for an inclusive work environment.”
