This case arises out of explosion which occurred in a residential water well pump house which occurred in Knott County, KY resulting in burns to the head and arms of the owner. The home owner alleged that the explosion was a result of a drilling procedures and ongoing maintenance of a nearby natural gas well. The jury returned a verdict for plaintiff for $270,000,000, the largest verdict of its kind in Kentucky. The day after the verdict was returned Frost Brown Todd was engaged to assist in all post trial proceedings including motions for JNOV and the appeal. Frost Brown Todd and the trial counsel prepared and filed motion for JNOV on numerous grounds including the excessive nature of the verdict
