Matt has 20+ years of tax consulting experience, and focuses his tax practice on a wide range of issues including federal opportunity zone tax planning, M&A tax planning, international tax planning and compliance, and federal IRS and state controversy matters. His practice extends to preparing Reg D 506(b) and (c) private placement memorandum on federal opportunity zone offerings and assisting companies assess direct and indirect 401k costs for overall savings.
Matt is recognized for his work in federal opportunity zone tax planning which can be paired with other tax incentives, including federal tax credits or Section 1202 qualified small business stock sale exclusions. His pragmatic approach is in securing and maximizing Section 1400Z-2 generous tax benefits for his clients by navigating the various technical requirements for qualification of opportunity zone tax benefits and qualification of investment property which the Internal Revenue Code requires.
Matt has represented Fortune 500 and private companies, founders, investors, management teams, PE sponsors, family offices and individuals across a wide variety of industries including manufacturing, commercial real estate, hospitality and energy, among others. He applies his expertise and experience to assist clients in tax efficient structuring of transactions and to limit exposure to unexpected tax consequences.
