Frost Brown Todd (FBT) welcomes back partner Jason Villalba as both a legal and a government relations advisor as part of FBT’s public affairs subsidiary CivicPoint for businesses across Texas. Villalba will be based in FBT’s Dallas office and will spend a significant amount of time in Austin. Villalba served three terms representing part of Dallas as a State Representative. Most recently, he served as General Counsel to the community management company Associa. He will combine that experience to head up the launch of CivicPoint Texas, FBT’s public affairs subsidiary. CivicPoint already works with clients in Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, West Virginia and Washington, D.C.

“Jason’s existing relationships throughout Texas’ political and business community make him a top choice to introduce CivicPoint to Texas,” said CivicPoint Managing Director Trey Grayson. “As the Texas market continues to grow, both long-time and new businesses in the state need guidance navigating Texas’ state and local government. We have already had to outsource current clients who require that guidance because we didn’t have someone like Jason who could address and resolve their needs. That is no longer the case.”

Villalba serves as Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board for the Texas Hispanic Policy Foundation, a nonprofit that aims to use data and analytics in order to understand the needs of the Texas Hispanic community. He is a graduate of Baylor University where he earned his Bachelor of Business Administration in finance and economics and the University of Texas School of Law.

“I am excited to get return to Frost Brown Todd and get back to Austin to help clients’ legislative needs on behalf of CivicPoint,” said Villalba. “My time away from Frost Brown Todd as General Counsel has taught me the importance of understanding a business’ industry and advising in a holistic approach. I look forward to bringing that back, specifically in the telecommunications, transborder, automotive, technology and energy industries. I am also glad to see Frost Brown Todd’s expansion into California this year. Not only is their focus on providing a diverse practice important to me, but I hope to be a resource for the Latino and Hispanic businesses they are working with, specifically on the inbound and outbound transactional needs between the U.S. and Mexico.
